A Monien Construction lakehouse at dusk in Burlington, Wisconsin, its windows lit above the water

Lake Geneva and Walworth County, Wisconsin

Custom homes and renovations for the lake country, built by the owner.

Nick Monien has built across Walworth County since 2008. He walks the site with you, prices the work himself, and is on the job every day until the last door is hung.

Monien Construction

A small company, by design.

Monien Construction is one owner and one crew. That is not a limitation. It is how the work stays consistent from the first site walk to the final walkthrough.

Nick Monien estimates the project, runs the job, and does much of the carpentry himself. The same people who frame the house set the trim. Clients have one number to call, and the person who answers already knows what happened on site that morning.

Two lakehouses, photographed room by room

The Burlington remodel and addition won the Lakeland Builders Association 2026 Quality and Design Award for Best Whole Home Renovation. The Whitewater custom build was entered in the same awards. Earlier projects join the portfolio as their photography is organized.

At the end of the construction process, we have no regrets and would 100% choose Monien Construction again, they are the very best!

How a project runs

Four stages, one person responsible for all of them

First

The conversation

Nick walks the land or the existing house with you, listens to what you want, and gives you an honest read on budget and timing before anything is signed.

Second

Design and pricing

Drawings, selections and a fixed scope, so the number you approve is the number the project is run to.

Third

The build

One crew, the owner on site, and steady updates. You always know what is happening and what comes next.

Fourth

The walkthrough

The final walkthrough is done with Nick, item by item, before the job is called finished.

From clients

The quality of craftsmanship and skill reigned high at every stage of our project. The timeline was accurate and continually communicated, which gave us peace of mind throughout.

Tony Skemp

I hired Nick to renovate the first floor of my 1940's lake house. Besides his carpentry skills, his vision helped transform my home to a warm, delightful retreat.

Leslie Cross

Nick takes on a limited number of projects each year.

One crew can only build so much at this standard, so the calendar fills early. If you are planning a build or a major renovation, the best time to talk is before the drawings are final.
