Renovations and Additions

Whole-home renovations, additions, kitchens, baths and the carpentry that ties an older house together.

How we renovate

Older lake houses deserve careful work

Many of the finest properties around Geneva Lake, Delavan Lake, and Lauderdale Lakes were built decades ago. The setting is irreplaceable. The house often is not. Renovating one well takes a builder who respects what is there and rebuilds what is not, without losing the character that made the place worth keeping.

That is renovation work the way Monien Construction does it: opened floor plans, rebuilt kitchens and baths, additions that disappear into the original lines, and structural corrections handled while the walls are open, not papered over.

Like every Monien commission, a renovation runs under one owner, one crew, and one point of contact. Nick Monien quotes the work, runs the work, and walks it with you at the end.

Whole-home renovations

Full-floor and full-house transformations, from structure to finish, sequenced so the project keeps moving.

Kitchens

Custom cabinetry, stone, lighting, and layouts built around how the room is actually used.

Baths

Primary baths and spa baths with tile, stone, and fixtures installed to a furniture standard.

Outdoor living

Covered porches, decks, and timber-framed outdoor rooms that extend the season on the lake.

Architectural carpentry

Built-ins, stair work, beam and shiplap ceilings, and trim, all done by our own crew.

Renovation questions

Common questions

Do you renovate older lake houses?

Yes. We renovate older lake houses and cottages around Geneva Lake, Delavan Lake, and Lauderdale Lakes, including whole-floor and whole-home renovations that preserve the character of the original home while rebuilding what is behind the walls.

Can I live in my home during a renovation?

Often, yes. It depends on the scope. We phase work where possible, seal off active areas, and keep a clean site, and we will tell you honestly during planning whether staying is realistic for your project.

Do you build additions?

Yes. Additions are a core part of the work, from great rooms and primary suites to second stories, porches, and detached structures, matched to the original home so the seam disappears.

Who does the finish carpentry?

Our own crew. Built-ins, stair work, timber details, and trim are done in-house rather than subcontracted, which is how the finish quality stays consistent. More answers on the Questions & Answers page.
